Celia Farrar Hastings has been a licensed attorney for 32 years. Though not yet a member of the Tennessee Bar, she practices in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern Division of Tennessee at Knoxville, assisting Ann Mostoller in her Bankruptcy Trustee practice. She remains a member of the Michigan Bar, where she was first admitted in 1979.
Ms. Hastings graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan after only 3 years of study in 1974, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and grades 7-12 teaching certificate. She attended Wayne State University School of Law, where she earned a spot on the school’s Law Review after a writing contest and served as a law clerk intern to the Honorable Cornelia Kennedy, then Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Southern Division. Ms. Hastings earned her Juris Doctor degree in the spring of 1979 and was admitted to the bar in November of that year. Due to her many years of service, Ms. Hastings was made a member of the Masters Lawyers section of the Michigan Bar in 2010.
Ms. Hastings has had the opportunity to practice in many fields of law during her long career, but was primarily a plaintiff’s personal injury and criminal defense trial attorney. She served as a mediator in several Michigan counties. She relocated to Tennessee with her husband and son in 2005, and joined the firm in October, 2008 after the untimely death of her husband.
Ms. Hastings’ 23 year old son Wesley, her brother David, 5 cats and a Pug reside with her in Kingston. She has four grandchildren in Tennessee, ranging from 8 to 21 years of age, and three grandchildren in Arizona. She has two great grandchildren.
